Should I use SharePoint or a File Share?
I needed a quick reference for users on when it is best to use SharePoint Document Libraries or a File Share. There are many scenarios for each. I don’t believe the “file share is dead” theory, but rather see both continuing side by side.

this topic has still one more option, the RBS use for Sharepoint. That way you can use your document libraries and still store the files outside the database.

Thanks Ricardo! Excellent point. There are definitely times when Remote BLOB can help fill the gap for those who need SharePoint features (i.e. metadata tags) but with large file sizes.
